Recently took a return flight from Brisbane to Roma. Both times the staff were not at all warm and friendly, very disappointing for such a small town - wheres the country folk at?? Not at all helpful had to struggle with a pram and 6wk old newborn baby & was shunned at for asking fir help with dismantling the pram. Very very POOR service! You guys need to step it up! Cant speaj highly enough of the FIFO workers lending a very much helping hand - Much Appreciated !!
A quick way to get in & out of Roma. You can smell the money here. Dirty, coal-seam gas money that has paid for this large, well appointed airport terminal. The carpark looks like a forest of orange flags from all the mine spec vehicles, all waiting for their owners to return from R&R. Parking is $10 a day, if you can find a spot. You will be hard pressed to find a more vigilant, "crack" security team than the one stationed to protect those brave enough to fly from Roma. They devote almost inhuman effort to finding the smallest piece of metal in your baggage. Don't you worry, No asthma puffer is going to slip through their scanners. NOT ON THEIR WATCH! If arriving, your bags get delivered on the actual baggage cart, driven out of the secure airside chain fence to an open air arena where you then fight your fellow passengers to the last bag.Come to Roma Airport for the heat, the dust, the yards of cattle that can seemingly survive on hot, dry dust & amazingly strange boab trees that Roma is famous for.If you leave, expect a chance to get up close & personal with the security staff. Maybe too close for some and definitely way too personal for many.Just don't complain - its a 5 hour drive to Brisbane! Two stars.
Staff are friendly. Due to the low frequency of people entering the terminal, you are almosty guarenteed to be 'randomly' checked. Cafe is open again but does not serve alcohol for all the FIFO workers leaving for home. Upgrade in progress.
I recently had a very bad experience at the Rome airport (FCU), My departure flite was on Lufthansa with service to Frankfurt (6/3/2015).From the time of baggage check to 15 minutes after my scheduled boarding time, there was no information available concerning the departure gate. To make matters worse, nearly every other flite departing out of terminal 1 had no gate assignment information as well. Hundred of people gathered around the two flite information boards located in the terminal desperately trying to determine their boarding gate. It was a nightmare!!To make matters worse, when you finally found out where your departure gate was, you had to ride a bus to board the plane because there are no jetways due to the construction. Also, there are NO representatives from the airline to help you; only uninformed airport employees who instruct you to stand next to either of the two monitors, along with everybody else, and wait and see where to go.I am not sure how handicapped people get on the planes without jetways; they must have to carry them up the boarding ladders.
Has got to be one of the worst airports I use. Here are some examples of why it isn't a place you'll be wanting to visit.1. it has a sign saying "
